Confidentiality in sessions

What you share in sessions is confidential, within professional and legal limits set out by the BACP Ethical Framework. Those limits, for example where there is a risk of serious harm to you or someone else, are explained fully at first contact, before any session takes place, so you know exactly where the boundaries are.

What information is collected

Getting in touch is by email or phone, and only the information you choose to share is collected. There's no enquiry form asking you to detail your reasons for contacting me in advance. You're welcome to share as much or as little as you're comfortable with in that first message; a full picture isn't needed before an introductory chat.

Special category data

Information about mental health is treated as special category data under UK GDPR. It's handled with particular care: session notes and contact details are kept securely, shared with no one outside the exceptions explained at first contact (such as a risk of serious harm, or where the law requires disclosure), and kept only as long as professional guidance requires.

Cookies & analytics

This website does not use advertising trackers or third-party marketing pixels. Any analytics in use are configured to avoid capturing free-text content, so nothing typed in an email enquiry is ever collected through the website itself. Enquiries go directly to a private inbox by email or phone.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what personal information is held about you, to request a copy of it, to ask for corrections, and to ask for it to be deleted, subject to professional record-keeping requirements.
